Full Job Description

What is the purpose of the role?

The purpose of the Highways Engineer is to assist the team with all activities relating to the inspection, maintenance, study, design and construction of schemes within relevant areas on the network to meet client objectives and needs.

This role would suit a candidate with a Term Maintenance Highways Contract background with relevant experience in highways maintenance

What will this role involve?

  • Carry out specialist investigations.
  • Assist with preparing technical documents and reports.
  • Maintain high technical standards consistent with the project brief.
  • Deal with project related correspondence.
  • Attend meetings with the client and other organisations as required
  • Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Manage and mentor graduate engineers
  • Supervising and coordinating the work of others
  • Identify areas of work in line with asset management plan
  • Engage with local community to promote works
  • Liaise with other teams to drive engineering solutions
  • Take ownership of a geographical section of the network

  • Qualified to HND / Degree level or equivalent in civil engineering or related subject or working towards the qualification as an absolute minimum
  • Must have appropriate experience working on a trunk road maintenance Contract or having successfully fulfilled a role of a similar nature.

About the Account

Do you want to work on managing and maintaining the essential trunk roads in the North East of Scotland, providing safe and reliable passage for all road users?

Here at Amey we have been awarded the contract to manage and maintain the Trunk Road Network in the North East of Scotland on behalf of Transport Scotland. We will work closely with Transport Scotland to deliver improved levels of service to the trunk road network, aiming to ensure consistent, predictable and reliable journeys for road users. The contract will deliver maintenance, road safety, bridges and structures and discrete improvement schemes whilst taking into account the Scottish Government’s climate change and sustainability targets.
